Pickleball Court or Half-Court Basketball?
Can only fit one court? Here is an honest look at pickleball versus a half-court basketball pad, and why many families end up combining them.
Who will play
Basketball often suits kids and teens shooting alone. Pickleball suits mixed ages and is easy to learn, but needs at least two players.
Space
A pickleball court has fixed dimensions. A half-court can be sized to the yard.
Noise
Pickleball paddles are loud, which matters with close neighbors and some HOAs.
Equipment
Basketball needs a hoop anchored in concrete. Pickleball needs a net, permanent or portable.
Combine them
One slab can carry pickleball lines and a hoop on the end. Plan it before the pour so hoop sleeves and net sleeves go in the right place.
